Activity 6

Write a short summary (5 lines) for each one of these fairy tales in English. Include images for each one of the stories.

1. The Beauty and the beast

Beauty was a pretty and intelligent young girl that likes to read. When his father were caught in a mysterious castle, Beauty began to searched him and offers to take his place. The castle was property of a tormented beast that really was a charmed young prince. Only when the beast knows the love, he will be able to return to his real body. Step by step, and thanks to the help of the servants of the beast, who have been turned into domestic objects. Beauty will discover that the real beauty hides in the inside and will know the person behind the beast.

2. Aladdin and the wonderful lamp

Aladdin is an ingenious young who, though it is poor, dreams of marrying the princess Yasmin. The visir of the Sultan, Yafar, contracts Aladdin to helps him to look for a lamp in the depths of the Cave of the Marvels. Aladdin finds the lamp, in which there lives a genius who grants three desires to the one who liberates him. Nevertheless, the princess isn't interested in wealths or power, she wants someone kind and funny. With the help of his friends, Aladdin save the kingdom of the conspiracy of the wicked Yafar and in addition, fulfill his dreams. 

3. Ali Baba and the forty thieves

Ali Baba was a woodcutter who lived in Persia. One day he discovered a forty thieves in a magic cave, which they opened it saying "Open You, Sésamo!" and they were closed it saying "Be closed, Sésamo!" And when the thieves went away, he entered and stole the gold. Ali told it to his rich brother , but the he wanted more gold and went there to steal it. The thieves found it and killed it. Ali went to look for the body of his brother to bury it, but when the thieves  seen that the body wasn't there, they knew that someone else knew the secret, and investigating they found Ali Baba. But Ali had a faithful slave, who protected him from all the traps of the thieves, for what Ali liberated her and delivered it in marriage with his son as reward for his loyalty.

4. Alice in Wonderland

A blonde girl named Alice was studing with her sister, but she wasn't paying attention, she was imagining a world, her own world. Suddendly she saw a white rabbit with a jacket and a clock, and that wasn't normal, so she followed he. But the rabbit went into a hole and Alice followed it and felt down. Then she was in Wonderland, where she found many stranger characters... The Hare of March, the Mad Hatmaker, and a caterpillar with a pipe ... and was involved in a enterteining events as a party of "non-birthday". Finally, Alicia's sister wakes up her, and told her that it is time to come back home.

5. The sleeping beauty

Once, the kings were celebrating the birth of her daughter, Aurora. But they forgot to invite Maléfica who, enraged, threw a terrible charm on the princess: in  her birthday number 16, she would prick itself with the use of a distaff and would die. But her three fairies godmothers discover a way of breaking the curse: she will not die, will remain slept until a brave prince kisses her, and this day comes. Aurora pricks itself her finger and felt down in the charm, however much his parents tried to avoid it eliminating all the distaffs of the world. But the prince comes in her rescue, kisses her and they live happily ever after.

6. Hansel and Gretel

Once upon a time, in the forest lived a "family"; the father, the stepmother and two kids; Hansel and Gretel. But the stepmother was evil, and left the kids alone into the woods. But they left a way of little white stones and always returned to home. One day the stepmother found it, and they couldn't gather stones and had to use bread crumbs, but the animals ate the crumbs, and they losted the way, so they started to walk, and when they were walikng, they found a hause made of sweets. There lived a witch that want to ate them but they were faster and scape. When they returned to home, the stepmother wasn't there, and the father was sad, but when he saw his childrens, he smile again and lived happily ever after.

7. The little mermaid

Ariel, daughter of the king Tritón, is the princess of the sirens. His holiday of birthday is nearby and his major illusion is to be able to know the human beings. With the help of the witch Úrsula, Ariel rises to the surface, where she save a beautiful prince of dying drowned , who his ship has  sunk, and Ariel falls in love passionately. Many event and difficulties happen, as the intervention of Newt, the charms and Úrsula's evilnesses, until they marry and live happy forever. 

8. Little red riding hood

There was once a girl with a red riding hood that her mom had given her. One day her mom asked her to visiting her grandmother to the forest. In the way she met a wolf, who told where she was going, but the wolf run to arrive first at the grandmother's house and swallowed it. When she came, her grandmother was strange, and she did a few questions to her until it discovered that it was the wolf, then she shouted and a woodcutter listened to her, ran to the house and throbbed to the wolf until he returned to the granny of Little Red Riding Hood.

9. Thumbelina 

Thumbelina was a little girl who born from a flower thanks to a woman's wish, but one day she was kidnapped by a toad and he wants marry she with his son, and from that moment, she spent many adventures knowing animals of all kinds, some of which wanted to marry her, until one day escaping with a bird friend of the wedding with the mole, she  came up to a field of flowers, in which she met the King of flowers, they fell in love, and the married. Now she isn't Thumbelina, now she is Maya, the queen of the flowers.

10. Rapunzel

Once upon a time a young girl named Rapunzel who lived in a tower because a witch had her captive because her hair was very beautiful. The witch used Rapunzel´s long and beautiful golden hair to climb the tower. One day, a prince found the tower, and imitate the voice of the witch getting Rapunzel drop her hair by the window and the prince go there. Rapunzel and the prince fell in love and went to live at the palace and were happy.

11. Pinonccio

An old man called Geppetto makes a marionette of wood to which he calls Pinocho, with the hope that it turns into a child indeed. The Blue Fairy makes real his desire and gives life to Pinocho, but his body of wood preserves. Pepito Cricket, Pinocho's conscience, will have to advise it in order that it should move away from the difficult or dangerous situations up to achieving that the marionette turns into a child of meat and bone.

12. The Emperor´s new clothes

Once upon a time an emperor who only used fine clothes. He love himself too much, and every hour of the day he changed his clothes and used another. One day, two men came saying they were the best tailors of the kingdom and they'll make the best of the dresses to the emperor; an invisible suit, and only those who do their job well would see it, but they were just liars. Everyone in the town were liars, and they don't want to say that they don't saw the clothes. Just a kid were brave and told the truth to the emperor.

13. The selfish giant

Once upon a time, a selfish giant living in a castle with a beautiful garden, but nobody could enter. One day, the giant saw kids playing in his garden and upset with the noise that they were causing. When winter arrived, all turned white and cold, and he didn't know why... Past year his garden was perfect, winter wasn't a problem. Now the garden was brown, sad, without life, and he don't know what to do. A kid told him that they were taking care of his garden, and he understand everything, so he let the kids play and enjoy it, because de joy of the kids made his garden happy.
